My journey to Avantara Libertyville began following a 30-day hospital stay. I needed a reliable place for rehabilitation, and my doctor highly recommended Avantara. This recommendation was a lifesaver, and my time at Avantara has been nothing short of transformative.

Every day at Avantara brought noticeable improvements. The physical therapy team, particularly, pushed me to regain strength and mobility. When I first arrived, I almost entirely depended on the staff for basic movements. But with their dedicated assistance, I progressed to riding a bicycle for half an hour and standing again. The CNAs were always there to help when I couldn’t take care of myself. Betty was instrumental in organizing all my appointments and trips, ensuring that I could focus solely on my rehabilitation.

The holistic care at Avantara extends beyond physical therapy. The nurses, doctors, and cleaning staff contributed significantly to my recovery. The attention to my needs, whether medical or personal, was impeccable. The meals were good, and any additional requests, like an extra glass of tea, were promptly attended to.

Based on my experience, I would recommend Avantara Libertyville to anyone needing comprehensive post-acute care! The level of attention, care, and support provided here is exceptional. Avantara is a place where patients are treated and genuinely cared for, making a challenging recovery journey much more manageable and optimistic.

After falling and being hospitalized, I was referred to Avantara Libertyville for rehabilitation following a stay at another facility.

My experience at Avantara was exceptional, primarily due to the excellent physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) I received. Dan, a PT staff member, and another therapist played pivotal roles in my rehabilitation. They helped me with leg stretches and exercises, leading to noticeable improvements in my walking. Even my doctor was impressed with the progress they helped me achieve.

The care and support extended beyond therapy. The CNAs, especially two named Martha and Maggie, were outstanding. Their assistance and dedication across all three shifts were invaluable to my recovery. They were not just staff but became a part of my daily life at Avantara, contributing significantly to my well-being.

Every day, I looked forward to progressing towards my goal of walking again. The in-service therapy at home continues to challenge me, and I am grateful for the foundation laid during my stay at Libertyville. If I had to choose a rehabilitation facility again, Avantara Libertyville would be my top choice. The combination of excellent therapy, supportive staff, and a nurturing environment makes me recommend them without hesitation to anyone needing rehabilitation.

I received rehabilitation at Avantara Libertyville and had a great experience there. Dan, who led my physical therapy, was very thorough. Jen, who conducted my occupational therapy, had a great sense of humor and was a pleasure to work with. On the second floor, Paula, Edwin, and Susanna were exceptional. When I moved to the first floor for proximity to the therapy gym, the staff was excellent as well – from nurses Lana, Camille, and Alex, to the housekeeper Dania. Maintenance was also helpful, fixing the clock in the room and stabilizing a wobbly bed. The meal options were pleasing, and I even gained 10 much-needed pounds. Cecilia in admissions checked in with us to ensure everything was running smoothly, and Kim was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Should I ever need rehab again in the future, I would not hesitate to return to Avantara Libertyville.

When I arrived at Avantara Libertyville, I was very sick.

What started as a severe infection in my left knee had progressed into sepsis, leaving me weak, exhausted, and unable to do much for myself. My body had been through more than I realized, and before I could focus on rebuilding strength, I first had to recover from the infection itself.

That wasn’t easy for me to accept.

Like most people, I wanted immediate results. I wanted to walk. I wanted to get stronger. I wanted to get back to normal as quickly as possible.

But recovery doesn’t always work that way.

The staff helped me understand that before my body could do more, it needed time to heal.

Once I was medically stable, the therapy team began helping me rebuild my strength. One of the highlights of my stay was working with Dan in physical therapy. He knew when to encourage me, when to challenge me, and when to make sure I didn’t push beyond what was safe.

I still remember the first time I was able to walk from my wheelchair near the windows all the way toward the doors in the therapy gym.

To some people, that might not sound like much.

To me, it was a huge accomplishment.

Not long before that, I barely had enough energy to get out of bed. Being able to stand, walk, rest, and then do it again showed me that progress was happening—even if it wasn’t happening as quickly as I wanted.

What impressed me most wasn’t just the therapy. It was the people.

Lana, one of the nurses, made a lasting impact on me. Before therapy, I would ask for a couple of Tylenol to help me prepare for the work ahead. After the first time I asked, she remembered. Every morning before therapy, she made sure I had what I needed without me even having to remind her.

She also noticed when I wasn’t receiving the nutritional supplements my doctor wanted me to have and personally made sure I received a cold Ensure with every meal.

Those small acts of attentiveness meant a lot.

Another staff member I’ll never forget was Gloria, one of the overnight CNAs. Every evening she would quietly check in to make sure I had water, help with anything I needed, and make sure I was comfortable before settling in for the night. In the morning, she would stop by again with a fresh glass of ice water and a friendly greeting to start the day.

It’s those little things that stay with you.

The CNAs, nurses, and therapy team all worked together to make sure I had what I needed. Whether it was helping me get cleaned up, answering questions, checking my vitals, or encouraging me during therapy, I always felt supported.

What I looked forward to most each day was therapy.

I knew that every session gave me another opportunity to improve. Recovery after sepsis takes time, but I learned that progress comes from showing up, doing the work, and trusting the process.

Looking back, that’s exactly what the team at Avantara Libertyville helped me do.

If someone asked me whether I would recommend Avantara Libertyville, I would tell them this: if you’re willing to put in the work, the team will be right there beside you. They care, they pay attention, and they do everything they can to help you succeed.

For me, that made all the difference.

When my mother broke her hip after a fall, everything changed overnight.

Following surgery, she needed rehabilitation to help her regain her strength and mobility before she could safely return home. Like many families facing that situation, we wanted to find a place that would provide quality care and give her the best opportunity to recover.

That’s what we found at Avantara Libertyville.

When my mother first arrived, she had very limited mobility. Simple tasks were difficult, and moving around independently wasn’t possible. The goal was to help her rebuild her strength, regain confidence, and return to doing more for herself.

The therapy team worked with her consistently and encouraged her throughout the process.

Recovery after a hip fracture isn’t easy. It takes patience, effort, and a willingness to keep working even when progress feels slow. The staff helped remind her why therapy mattered and encouraged her to stay focused on her goals.

And the results spoke for themselves.

By the time she was ready for discharge, she had gone from being largely confined to bed to walking with a walker and navigating several stairs on her own. Seeing that kind of progress was incredibly meaningful for our family.

What stood out most to me was the quality of care.

The staff members were positive, helpful, and genuinely kind. They treated my mother with respect and made sure she received the support she needed throughout her stay. Whether it was the nurses, therapists, or caregivers, everyone seemed committed to helping residents succeed.

My mother isn’t someone who seeks out activities or likes being the center of attention. She’s a quieter person by nature. What mattered most to her was receiving good care and making progress—and that’s exactly what happened.

The rehabilitation process helped her regain abilities that she had lost after her injury and gave our family confidence that she was moving in the right direction.

If someone asked me whether I would recommend Avantara Libertyville, I would absolutely say yes.

The staff was caring, the therapy was effective, and most importantly, my mother made the progress she needed to continue her recovery with greater independence. For our family, that’s what mattered most.

I came to Avantara Libertyville after falling three times in 24 hours and needing help to get stronger and safer on my feet. During my stay, therapy helped strengthen my arms and legs, which made a big difference in my daily life. I’m now able to use my walker more confidently, get up more easily, and walk to the bathroom and kitchen table on my own.

Avantara Libertyville exceeded my expectations because they truly helped rehabilitate me. I’m especially grateful for Omar, who was fantastic and helped me so much during my stay. I would recommend Avantara Libertyville to anyone who needs rehabilitation and support.
